Churros

When I was in school in Germany, a few classmates made an appointment to go to the city to eat and play at the Christmas market every Christmas. Standing in front of the food stall, rubbing my frozen red hands and eating freshly baked hot snacks with Glühwein… My favorites are potato cakes, cheese balls and churros, they seem to be fried foods, and sure enough, the happiness index of fried food is high~ I’m going to make churros, Christmas is coming, and we still eat it on the hour at home due to the epidemic ( ́▽’ )ノ I use oil for frying, and if you are afraid of too much oil, you can also use the oven.

Ingredients for churros

The practice of churros

Step 1

Pour water, butter, and salt into a milk pan over medium-low heat until the butter melts and the water boils. The dough in this way is slightly salty, and students who like sweetness can add a small spoonful of sugar, brown sugar and white sugar. Don’t put too much, the final product is sprinkled with sugar or dipped in sauce.

Step 2

After boiling, turn off the heat and pour in the flour and stir into a ball. Then turn on the minimum heat and continue to stir until a thin layer appears at the bottom of the pot.

Put the dough in a bowl and scrape some to cool. This step is to prevent the dough from being too hot, and scald the egg liquid added later into egg drops

Prepare an egg to beat while it cools. This picture is for my little fork, haha~

When the dough is not hot, you can add one-third of the egg liquid and stir well, then add a third of the egg mixture and stir well until all the egg liquid is added to stir the dough well. I make a relatively small amount here, you can mix it manually, if you make a large amount, you should use a chef machine, which takes a lot of effort.

Put the mixed dough in a piping bag. I use a cookie spout here, an eight-toothed one. For your reference

I see that the stall is directly squeezed into the oil pan and fried, and cut off after squeezing a section. You can do this, squeeze it directly into the oil pan, squeeze a section and cut it with scissors. If you are afraid that you will not be able to operate well or want to squeeze out various patterns, you can squeeze the dough onto oil paper first, and then put it in the refrigerator to freeze and shape.

Step 8

After the dough is set, it is ready to fry. Pour oil into a pot, heat over medium-low heat, and when the chopsticks are inserted into the oil, there are fine bubbles. Fry the dough until golden brown and brown, because we scald the noodles with boiling water at the beginning, so it is easy to fry. Remove the fried churros, place them on kitchen paper, and absorb the oil. It is also possible to use the oven without frying, then there is no need to freeze it in the refrigerator. Directly line the baking sheet with oiled paper, squeeze the pattern, and heat the oven at 170 degrees for about 30 minutes. If the coloring is satisfied, it can be baked, and the baking time can be adjusted according to the degree of coloring.

Step 9

Spanish churros can be served with a variety of sauces you like, I prefer the taste of cinnamon, here I use sugar and cinnamon powder mixed and sprinkled on the fritters. You can also sprinkle powdered sugar, dip chocolate sauce, condensed milk, honey, ice cream and other sauces you like~ Eat it hot, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside

Cooking tips for churros

If you don’t fry, you can also use the oven, line the baking sheet with oiled paper, and squeeze the pattern without freezing. Bake in the oven at 170 degrees for about 30 minutes. If the coloring is satisfied, it can be baked, and the baking time can be adjusted according to the degree of coloring.
